Our Story

Where cycling, education, and community service meet.

A Foundation in Cycling

Pedals & Pages was founded by a competitive road cyclist in the United States with Romanian heritage. Through cycling, the founder experienced firsthand how mobility can shape discipline, opportunity, and access.

Road racing demands consistency, endurance, and self-reliance. These same qualities shape the way Pedals & Pages approaches its work: direct, persistent, and focused on results.

A Connection to Romania

At the same time, ongoing connections with Romanian students revealed how distance, limited resources, and language barriers restrict educational opportunity. Many students in rural and underserved areas lack basic tools for learning, including reliable transportation to reach school.

Making the Delivery Happen

This year's shipment took two separate hauls. The first was a full day spent driving a U-Haul across New Jersey, picking up bikes donated by local families, churches, and community suppliers, and bringing that batch back to the garage. A couple of days later, a second haul brought in more donated bikes, loaded straight into a fresh U-Haul.

From there, the bikes waiting in the garage were loaded in alongside the new haul, and the full 150 bicycles were driven to a logistics warehouse and unloaded. Along with 500+ English-language books, they were then packed into a shipping container and sent by freight to Europe. It has now arrived in Pacureti, Prahova, reaching the students who need it.

Youth-Led, Community-Supported

The organization is youth-led, community-supported, and grounded in real experience. Leadership is rooted in church-based and community-based service, with a commitment to responsible stewardship and genuine impact.
